Jamie Cardenas Selected for Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® in America
The team at Weis Law Group is excited to announce that attorney Jamie Cardenas has been chosen by her peers to be included in the fourth edition of Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® based on her service in the field of family law. The Ones to Watch list recognizes attorneys who have achieved an unusual level of professional excellence at an early point in their careers.
“I am thrilled to be chosen by my peers for inclusion on this list,” Jamie said. “To have earned the respect of other attorneys practicing family law in our region is a great honor.”
Best Lawyers Peer Review Process
The team at Best Lawyers worked to develop a selection process designed to reflect the consensus opinion of leading lawyers regarding the professional abilities of colleagues in their area of practice and geographical region. The organization proceeds under the premise that the quality of their peer reviews is linked directly to the quality of those who conduct the reviews, so they work to obtain the opinions of attorneys who have already received honor and recognition in the same field.
Any client or professional may nominate an attorney for inclusion in Best Lawyers, but only attorneys recognized for excellence can vote on the nominees. Because the Ones to Watch list recognizes excellence early in an attorney’s private practice career (and lawyers are not eligible for these awards while they serve as in-house counsel), attorneys nominated for the Ones to Watch list have typically practiced in a law firm for less than nine years.
Recognized attorneys who are eligible to vote receive a ballot customized by Best Lawyers to reflect lawyers in their field and geographic area. Voting attorneys rate each nominee on the ballot with a score between one and five based on one simple question. They are asked to rate their confidence in referring a case to that candidate. In addition, voting attorneys are encouraged to provide additional information in a comment section. In situations where voting attorneys are not personally familiar with the work of a nominee on their ballot, they are expected to refrain from voting. This way, results accurately depict informed professional opinions of each nominee’s skill, knowledge, and dedication.
Commitment to Serve
At Weis Law Group, we have been fortunate to have Jamie on our team as a law clerk even before she graduated law school. “We recognized her potential immediately,” notes Founding Partner Amy Weis, “and it is gratifying to see that others in the field have to come to realize the commitment to service and excellence that she brings to the practice of family law.”
“With her background in children’s studies, Jamie is a particularly effective advocate for children in divorce and other contentious family law situations,” she continues. “Her insight helps our entire team find the most effective solutions for families in complex situations. We congratulate her on this honor and look forward to future collaboration to offer our clients the best possible service.”
