Weis Law Group Recognized by Ohio Super Lawyers® for 15th Straight Year

The prestigious peer review journal Super Lawyers® has honored the team at Weis Law Group with several awards for 2023. Partner Amy Weis was named to the Super Lawyers list for the 15th consecutive year while Partner David Plumb was selected as a Rising Star for the 3rd straight year.

In addition, Amy was also listed among the Super Lawyers® Top 25 Women practicing in the Columbus area and the Top 50 Women in Ohio, as well as the overall Top 50 in Columbus and Top 100 in Ohio.

It is an Honor Just to be Nominated

Once a year, Super Lawyers invites attorneys in each state to nominate the best lawyers they have observed in action to be named as Super Lawyers. If an attorney nominates someone in their own firm, that nomination must be matched by at least one from another firm, and out-of-firm nominations carry more weight than in-house nominations. Clients are also allowed to submit nominations but those nominations do not receive points.

One reason Super Lawyers awards are prized so highly by attorneys is that procedures are in place to prevent unfair procedures such as block nominations and quid pro quo nominations. Lawyers are not allowed to campaign or solicit nominations. Being nominated to the Super Lawyers list indicates that an attorney is truly held in high regard by peers.

Representing the Top Tier of Attorneys

After attorneys have been nominated, the Super Lawyers research team reviews credentials, awards, and results. They look for attorneys who have received a high degree of peer recognition or professional competence and award points according to achievement. Each nominated attorney is rated on 12 different factors.

Then nominated attorneys are evaluated by peers in a formal review process. Each review is conducted by attorneys in the same region and practice area, and attorneys are compared with others in firms of similar size. Super Lawyers then names those in the top 5% in the state to the Super Lawyers List.

The selection process for the Rising Stars list is similar but eligibility is limited to attorneys aged 40 or under or in practice for less than 10 years. Only the top 2.5% are chosen for the Rising Stars list.

A Reputation for Excellence

The selection of both firm leaders by Super Lawyers reflects a culture of excellence cultivated throughout the firm. “We work hard to help our clients avoid the financial and emotional drain of heated disputes and litigation whenever possible,” Amy explains. “We always try to reach amicable settlements, and our clients and colleagues know that. But if we can’t resolve issues through an agreement, we know how to succeed in the courtroom.”

“I’m honored to be recognized by my colleagues for this award once again,” David notes. “It’s a humbling experience, especially when I know I could not provide excellent service to our clients without the backing of the entire dedicated team at Weis Family Law.”

Amy, David, and their associates would like to thank the legal community for this recognition. As Amy concludes, “This expression of regard from others in our practice area inspires us to work even harder to help clients and lead them toward a better future.”
